Funeral services to honor Brooks will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Martin Castille Funeral Home, located at 600 E. Farrel Road, Lafayette, Louisiana. An additional visitation will be held on the morning of the funeral, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the church. A private family burial will follow at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist Cemetery. Those unable to attend in person can view the service via a livestream link provided by the family.

Brooks was the beloved son of Michael Prejean and Marissa Meehan Prejean of Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a loving brother to Walker John Prejean and Michael Edwards Prejean Jr., and a treasured grandson to his maternal grandparents, Rose Marie Dulitz Meehan and John Terrence Meehan of New Orleans, as well as his paternal grandparents, Katherine “Kitty” Edwards Prejean and John Clyde Prejean of Abbeville. Brooks was surrounded by a close-knit family that included his aunts Erin Meehan and Robin Meehan Mjehovich, along with her husband, Vlaho, and his uncle, John Saul Prejean, and his wife, Susan. His academic excellence was further acknowledged through prestigious awards, including the Tiger Excellence Scholar Resident Award and the Louisiana Tiger Legacy Superior Award. As a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, LSU’s largest premedical society, Brooks actively contributed to the academic and professional growth of fellow students. His talent and promise were evident when he was selected to participate in the LSU School of Medicine’s Narrative Medicine Program in New Orleans, an opportunity reserved for top premedical students. As the Assistant Director of Student Outreach for the LSU Student Government, he worked tirelessly to enhance the student experience and foster a sense of community on campus.
